I am thrilled and honoured to have been selected to become an associate member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts! I can now also add AMAFA to my name - Eve Lumai Bridges BA MA AMAFA :) How fancy!
Back in 2017, I was awarded the MAFA Graduate award for my degree show at Manchester School of Art which made me a graduate member of the academy for three years. It was brilliant experience being invited to exhibit with the academy in their annual exhibitions. I decided to apply to become an official member after my graduate membership came to an end and I am very grateful to be able to continue to be a part of this brilliant artists community.
Huge thank you to the council that selected me. I can’t wait to see what comes next! You can read more about the academy below or visit their website - www.mafa.org.uk
‘Manchester Academy of Fine Arts, MAFA, was created in 1859. Today it has a membership of over 110 diverse and talented artists. Our painters, sculptors and printmakers represent the best in fine art across the region.
There have been many renowned artists amongst its members including L. S. Lowry who was a member for over 40 years. Today MAFA remains committed to promoting fine art to the people of the North West through exhibitions and education.
Private views, talks, tours, specialist and skills sharing workshops, collaborative painting sessions and projects supporting emerging artistic talent are all part of MAFA’s regular activities programme.’
